Mobile vs Salon
When starting out in the lash industry or any business it's advised to build your clientele before having your own salon. How can you pay for a place without having clients right?
I know when I first started out as a lash artist I was mobile and I would service about 3 clients in a day . I loved all my clients and got to know them on a more intimate level ( being that I was in the privacy of their OWN home) .
The journey was GREAT! I met a lot of people but it also had its cons! Did you know that your adhesive works off humidity and temperature? Being that you don't have FULL control of a persons home temperature or humidity this would make retention of the adhesive HORRIBLE at times! Causing my clients lash extensions to fall off within a few days and me offering to replace the lashes for free ( loosing money)
Now let's fast forward to months( yes months, not years) later where I'm in my own salon suite ! All praises definitely go to GOD ! Because as all new lash artist know , this is not a skill that you pick up over night.
My salon is great! Has its pros of course , no more lugging my lash materials
( bed, stool, lashes, lamp, etc) to an appointment , everyone now comes to me! Now the kicker is that NO one is going to KICK down my door to let me service them , I had to really put myself out there! Yes I have clientele, but just like any of us as lash artist people have life circumstances that they may cut back on being "Lashed" or may have found someone cheaper. ( oh and yes you pay for what you get)
I wouldn't change from being in my salon ( I LOVE my space) . I will encourage ALL new lash artist who are just starting out and don't know where to begin just know we ALL had to start from somewhere and it definitely wasn't the TOP !
So what are your thoughts on being Mobile vs being in a Salon ?
LASH TALK ABOUT IT!
